Another Painted DeLorean

There were 4 known painted DeLorean from the factory. I wonder if this is one of the them. So far, we've seen yellow, red, black & green.

Fold-A-DeLorean

If the paper DeLorean from the previous post is too much to handle, try the smaller one instead. Papertoys.com has a diagram of a DeLorean which once printed can be folded to a... DeLorean. The wheel rims & windows have to change though. Better still, paint it before you print. This is definitely going to be my weekend project.

Colourful DeLorean 2

1981 Delorean, originally uploaded by gelle_dk.

A rare 1981 Delorean because it is 1 of only 4 painted Delorean ever to be produced by the Delorean factory in Ireland. This one is now in Doc's Classic Car & Cycle Museum, Wisconsin, USA.

It could be a 3D model created by a DeLorean fan or it may not. Either way it still looks great.

Colourful DeLoreans

Somehow, I'd still prefer its original brushed metal look.

Touring a DeLorean

Here are photos of how a DeLorean looks like.

The side window with half of it rolled down.

A side front view with its DMC logo in front.

A back view. This one has a spoiler attached. The original DMC-12 do not.

With all its doors closed.

A DeLorean is a rear-wheeled drive machine. Therefore, its car boot is in front as shown here.

An inside look from a driver's side. A DeLorean is a left-hand drive car as it was produced for the American market.

Another view from the inside but on the passenger's side.

A DeLorean gullwing door with its pull strap visible.

Finally, the wheel. Somehow a DeLorean is not a DeLorean without this type of wheel rim.

Now that you've seen how a DeLorean looks like, we'll be bringing you the first potential candidate soon to be showcased here. Bookmark this page!

Black DeLorean

An original DeLorean is not painted since it is made of stainless steel which gives it a brushed metal look. In this photo, a DeLorean is painted black. Which is still cool though but reminds me a lot of a Mitsubishi Starion.

This photo is from Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. There's a written note 'For Sale' on its side window but at the end they gave it for free. Good effort guys!

Here's a perspective view of another DeLorean. Whoever lives there is sure lucky.

DeLorean Prototype

Watch an actual DeLorean in action on the road. Information given for this video stated that this is a prototype. It could be because the wheel rims are different.

DeLorean Hovercraft

Sure looks cool! And the closes anyone can get it to hover like in the movies. Unfortunately, it sure is one good DeLorean body wasted.

DeLorean 4x4

Our wannabees are still in process, so in the mean time, here's a photo of what a DeLorean owner will do to their car. Going to 88 mph would be tought on those wheels!

What's a DeLorean Wannabees' Candidate?

Knowing that its not easy to get a DeLorean, we've decided to create one using existing cars, past or present, with its shape resembling close to a real DeLorean DMC-12. Once a week, we'll showcase a possible DeLorean candidate.

What's a DeLorean?

The De Lorean DMC-12 is a Northern Irish sports car which was manufactured by the De Lorean Motor Company from 1981 to 1983. It is most commonly known as the De Lorean, as it was the only model ever produced by the company. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a brushed stainless steel body. It was famously featured in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The first prototype appeared in March 1977, and production officially began in 1981 (with the first DMC-12 rolling off the production line on January 21) at the DMC factory in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. During its production, several aspects of the car were changed, such as the hood (bonnet) style, wheels and interior. About 9,000 DMC-12s were made before production stopped in late 1982. Today, about six thousand DeLorean Motor Cars are believed to still exist.

Despite being produced in Northern Ireland, DMC-12s were primarily intended for the American market. Therefore, all of the production models were left-hand drive (designed to be driven on the right side of the road), limiting its popularity in the British Isles, where traffic travels on the left. Only 23 right-hand drive De Loreans were ever produced, these cars were converted from left-hand drive models by a specialized company in the UK.

The De Lorean is considered a great work of art and it endures as a pop culture icon, with a dedicated worldwide fan base.
